There's only two thunderbolt ports now instead of 4, so if you DO require 10Gb Ethernet, there's one of your ports gone already, assuming you can find a 10 Gb NIC that has drivers for Big Sur / M1ģ.) The HDMI port is only HDMI 2.0b, not HDMI 2.1Ĥ.) Bootcamp is gone, Windows virtualization performance or usability at all is unclear at this point, neither VMWare Fusion or Parallels have anything available right now that supports the M1, VMWare tweeted and said “we’re working on it, no time table” which is disappointing.ĥ.) Maximum supported memory is 16GB and it's soldered on to the main board, the days of upgrading the Mini's ram are gone (just confirmed with Apple Support)Ħ.) External GPU support is totally gone from all M1 based macs, confirmed by AppleInsider so if you’ve got any use case where the gfx capabilities of the M1 chip won’t meet your needs, there’s nothing you can do about it.
